In addition to the state-managed Natural Area Preserves (NAP’s), there are other local preserves managed by a variety of organizations.  This includes The Nature Conservancy, local governments, and nonprofit foundations.  Like NAP’s, they exist to protect unique natural environments, and limit recreational uses.  They are typically seldom-visited, providing the peace and quiet of a solitary walk in nature.  To learn more about these special places, use the park link for each preserve.
