About

This site is aimed at encouraging anyone and everyone in the Central Virginia area to get outdoors and enjoy nature through hiking. It contains a set of hikes located in and around Richmond, with a special focus on the natural features of each. It also provides detailed descriptions of some of the natural areas in our region and helps you explore their natural wonders.

The site has been created by the Riverine chapter of the Virginia Master Naturalists. Virginia Master Naturalists are volunteer educators, citizen scientists, and stewards helping Virginia conserve and manage natural resources and public lands. If you might be interested in helping to preserve Virginia’s natural resources, we are one of the groups that you could join. The Riverine Chapter serves the City of Richmond, Henrico County, Chesterfield County, Hanover County and other surrounding communities.. We hope you find this site useful and get the chance to take a few of our hikes. We will be adding hikes on a regular basis, so check back often.
